As wild weather continues to lash parts of New South Wales, we want to take a moment to send our thoughts to everyone affected. From flash flooding and damaging winds to widespread power outages, it’s been a challenging time for many – and our hearts are with all those impacted.
We know that many of our customers live and travel in regional and remote areas, and some of you may be facing evacuations, cut-off roads, or extended time without power. Please stay safe, follow advice from emergency services, and check in with your neighbours where you can.
At KickAss, we’re not just about gear – we’re a community. And right now, we simply want to let you know we’re here if you need us.
Whether you're at home or out on the road, here are a few general tips to help with emergency preparedness during severe weather:
Emergency Readiness Tips
1. Stay Informed
Keep a battery-powered radio or device handy to monitor updates from the SES and Bureau of Meteorology. If you’re relying on your phone, conserve battery where possible.
2. Have an Evacuation Plan
If you're in a flood-prone area, know your evacuation routes and prepare a grab-and-go kit with essential items like medication, ID, phone chargers, and important documents.
3. Store Drinking Water
Storms can impact both power and water supply. Fill clean containers with fresh drinking water in case mains supply is interrupted.
4. Charge Your Essentials
If you’ve still got access to power or portable chargers, top up phones, torches, and any other critical devices.
5. Secure Outdoor Items
Strong winds can turn outdoor furniture and gear into dangerous projectiles. Bring loose items indoors or tie them down securely.
6. Check on Others
If it’s safe to do so, check in on neighbours – especially the elderly or those living alone. A quick message or visit can make a huge difference.
We know this isn’t an easy time, and we hope that conditions ease soon across affected areas. If you’re a KickAss customer who needs support, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we’ll do whatever we can to assist.
Stay safe,
The KickAss Team
