Packing Up & Hitting the Road
With a convoy of fully loaded 4WDs, our KickAss team for the shoot – Dan, Ryan, Jenny, Cam, Ollie, and Adam – rolled into Scenic Rim, ready for a weekend of hard work, hands-on testing, and a fair bit of fun. The goal? To get high-quality lifestyle shots of our latest gear, from 12V power systems to outdoor cooking setups - all in real-world conditions. There’s only so much you can do in a studio, and let’s be honest - our gear is made for the great outdoors!
We weren’t alone on this adventure. We had the privilege of welcoming motor legend Glen Brinkman, who turned up in style with his mighty Unimog, plus the awesome crew from Solquest Campers, who brough along their ultra-compact, adventure-ready camper trailers to showcase our gear. And to bring it all to life in front of the lens, we had the stunning Jaycee Wilson, an adventurer and model who knows a thing or two about life off the beaten track.
Setting Up & Putting Gear to the Test
Camping in the Scenic Rim is always a treat. With rolling hills, rugged tracks, and spectacular views, it’s the perfect place to push our products to their limits. From the moment we arrived, it was all hands on deck—unloading gear, setting up camp, and getting straight into the action.
We fired up the KickAss Induction Cooktop for a much-needed camping feast, powered entirely by our lithium batteries and solar panels. The team also put acollection of KickAss Fridges & Freezers through their paces, storing food & drinks for the whole crew, and keeping them ice-cold under the sweltering Queensland sun. Meanwhile, the KickAss Handheld Vacuum got an unexpected workout when we realised just how much dust we were kicking up during the shoot!
Of course, a KickAss trip wouldn’t be complete without some serious off-road action. Between Glen’s Unimog and the ultra-capable Solquest Campers, we had some epic shots of these rigs tackling the rugged terrain – proving that off-grid travel is even better when you’ve got the right setup.
Team Bonding & A Few Laughs Along the Way
A photoshoot like this isn’t just about the end result. There was plenty of team bonding and friendly banter, and some serious admiration for Shannon Kelly from Light of Mine Photography, who managed to capture absolute magic with her camera. Never afraid to get down and dirty, this shoot saw Shannon crouching on the side of steep muddy gullies, being sprayed by creek water, and facing off with enormous spiders in search of the perfect shot. And she got them too!
At night, we relaxed around the campfire, enjoying Dan’s cooking, and soaking in the star-filled night sky. It’s easy to forget how much you rely on modern conveniences until you’re out there properly off-grid.
What’s Next?
Now that the dust has settled (literally), we’re going through the incredible shots from the weekend and can’t wait to share them with you. Whether you’re setting up a rugged 12V system, planning an off-grid camping trip, or looking for the best gear to power your next adventure, these photos will showcase exactly how KickAss gear performs when it matters most.
A huge shoutout to everyone who made this trip a success… Glen Brinkman for bringing the Unimog, the Solquest Campers team for showcasing their brilliant camper trailers, Jaycee Wilson for being an absolute legend in front of the camera, and of course, Shannon for capturing the magic. If you’re looking for adventure-ready camper trailers, check out Solquest Campers, and if you’re after breathtaking photography, Light of Mine Photography is where it’s at.
Stay tuned - we’ll be dropping our new images soon, and trust us, they’re worth the wait. Until then, keep exploring, keep adventuring, and most importantly, keep it KickAss!
